Workshop 2: First aid for your Theremin - How to do a quick emergency calibration of the oscillators and diagnose/fix other common problems

This teaching is targeted to every thereminist who doesn't fear taking a screwdriver in his hands (if needed). Previous participation in my Workshop 1 is not required but strongly recommended.

You may already have experienced the situation: You will have to perform soon, and there are only a few minutes left for the sound check. Suddenly you feel that your pitch field is much too stretched (or compressed) and/or you encounter an absolutely weird volume response. Or, still worse, there is no sound at all. You forgot your cell phone at home and cannot call me. What to do?

I'll tell you:

  • What are the common factors which cause such incidents
  • How to make a quick and rough diagnose just with your fingertips or, if present, a multimeter
  • How to recalibrate quickly your oscillators in order to bring back playability
  • Useful hints and tricks

...and then you'll be trained in practice under my supervision!

There is now need to open your own instrument if you don't want to do so. I'll be glad to lend you one of my instruments for these educational purposes.

Duration: 50 to 60 minutes
Min. 3, max. 5 participants at a time
