Theremin related research, design, modifications and repair

Overview

Workshop 2: First aid for your Theremin - How to do a quick emergency calibration of the oscillators and diagnose/fix other common problems

This teaching is targeted to every thereminist who doesn't fear taking a screwdriver in his hands (if needed). Previous participation in my Workshop 1 is not required but strongly recommended.

You may already have experienced the situation: You will have to perform soon, and there are only a few minutes left for the sound check. Suddenly you feel that your pitch field is much too stretched (or compressed) and/or you encounter an absolutely weird volume response. Or, still worse, there is no sound at all. You forgot your cell phone at home and cannot call me. What to do?

Workshop 1: Understanding, setting up, connecting and tuning your Theremin in order to get best playability (range and linearity) and avoid interference

This teaching is targeted to everybody. Special knowledge in electronics is not required. It will help you...

  • understanding basically how your theremin works
  • setting up and tuning your theremin in order to get best results
  • discovering potential problems and working around them

You will learn and understand that (among others)...
